Spontaneous Baptism 2

February 11th, 2009

This past Sunday we had our 2nd “Spontaneous Baptism” in 6 months at Cedarcrest. All I can say is I was blown away! God moved in an incredible way and 43 people were baptized between our two services! The most exciting thing about this past Sunday was the stories of life change that led to the baptism. Several people accepted Christ in the services and were baptized right there on the spot! This is the kind of stuff we read about in Acts!

All I can do is praise the name of Jesus Christ for what He has done and what He is doing at Cedarcrest! There is nothing more exciting than watching life change take place in front of you!

And all the people saw him walking and praising God; and they were taking note of him as being the one who used to sit at the Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg alms, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him. Acts 3:9-10

The spontaneous baptismal service was, well, I really haven’t been able to adequately describe it. I am, yet, in awe of the scene that transpired on the row immediately in front of us that day as first a father/husband answered the call from our Savior, then the wife/mother followed. It was amazing to watch as they stood and joined hands to go forward to be baptized, leaving their teenage daughter seated to watch from the edge of her seat, straining for a better view of her mom and dad. But the wonderful story did not end here. When they returned, with heads together, mother and daughter whispered among themselves, and then I heard, mother say, “no, it’s not too late, they will wait on you, I will go with you if you want me to”. I couldn’t contain the tears as mother and daughter stood and made the walk down the isle for daughter to join her parents in publicly professing Jesus as their Savior. I can only imagine what was transpiring in heaven at that moment! And I can’t stop telling the story. It was an amazing service, and such a blessing that I was allowed to witness.
